Notable November

In early November, we gathered Calista's volleyball team for their end-of-season banquet. Everyone contributed to the make-your-own-taco-bar as we celebrated the graduating seniors and a great year on the court. I'm thankful for the friendships formed and for a great coach for Cali (in the form of an Olympic volleyball player).

Shortly thereafter, Todd and I fastened our seatbelts for the drive north to Washington DC for our god-daughter's confirmation, a day scootering around the national monuments, and relaxing quality time with family.

My friend, Kerry, reached out about a painting of her family farm. I tapped into my creative side and stirred up not one, but two beautiful scenic paintings.

Then the following weekend, Greg invited me for a visit to his college.
Last year, he won a local DJ contest (and was promptly hired). I've never been to a dance club, much less been invited by one of my kids. I had to go! First, he got the sorority's winter formal rocking on the rooftop. A couple of the young women were so excited to take a selfie with "Greg's mom!" After a quick break, we came back for the 10 pm opening of the full club. (I had no idea such things STARTED when I typically head to bed.) It was a blast seeing Greg get 300 college students in full, pulsating motion!
I was back at the fraternity house HOURS before Greg, but he still managed to join me for coffee at Coastal Fog the next morning.

The most memorable of November's highlights was Thanksgiving at Kitty Hawk.
We toured the Wright Brothers Memorial, stopped at the original Duck Donuts, enjoyed long walks on the beach (including one in the PITCH BLACK DARKNESS), and cooked up a delicious Thanksgiving meal.

I loved (and needed) the time with friends and family time, the unique experiences, and the never-ending opportunities for adventure.
Travel nourishes my creative soul. The feeling of being in a different environment and experiencing new things allows me to truly
rest, relax, and soak in the beauty around me. I got home from the Outer Banks and had to remind myself, "Oh yeah...I live here!" I had gotten REALLY comfortable by the ocean.

So tell me about your November. Was it good for you? Do you have travel plans for the holidays?
XOXO,
Christy
