Marvelous May
Much Ado, May!
After April showers come the May flowers. And May of 2022, brought an extravagance of 'em! And these flowers came with the traditional petals, as well as in the form of budding friendships, blossoming relationships, and bouquets filled full of experiences.
The first May flower I picked (up) was my son Greg ...coming home from college for the summer. Along the way, I stopped to "smell the roses"...at the hippest Raleigh coffee shop, followed later in the day by superb shrimp tacos as Greg gladly chauffeured me home.
Mother's Day was the second May flower I gathered. 4-of-my-6 mom-makers joined me for Sunday coffee and a visit to my fav gardens surrounding the Duke Mansion. We spent a lazy morning zig-zagging through mazes, swaying on swings, and inhaling the scents of gardenias.
A third flower arrived in my bouquet by plane — Calista and I touched down in Philly for my goddaughter's graduation from Villanova University. The weekend was filled with family, fun, and frolicking through the Magic Gardens and Eastern State Penitentiary.
My fourth May flower arrived by special delivery, straight to my doorstep. Former co-workers and now dear friends — Tree, Gena, and Lizzie came in from across the country for a long ladies' weekend. Together, we explored the culture, the coffee, the lakeside sunsets, and the local cuisine of my hometown. I don't know how I got so lucky as to have friends who can have deep conversations, vulnerably share what's real right now, and consistently have each other's backs...even if we only see each other every couple of years.
My heart is full, and so is my May bouquet.
