Adolescent August
The month of August has always been a very child-focused time for me. The rush of sports coming into season, kids headed back to school, and a very special birthday.
As I am quick to get caught up in dorm and back-to-school shopping, my projects get put on the back burner. In August I made time for all of the adolescent glory. My son Greg returned home from his summer New Jersey... For a day. His siblings were so happy to see him, and he even treated us to a classy dinner!
Calista started her volleyball season out strong with a win, turned 16 years old (where does the time go?), and started her third year of high school at her fourth school. She joined me and Todd for Charlotte's Burger Week, and we explored the neighborhood where awe dined.
Zoe wrapped up her summer job and got packed up for another year with friends and fun at Appalachian State. After a tearful move-in, I left her... For a week, until Boone's weekly farmers market! Calista and I made the drive up to visit her, smell the flowers, and enjoy all the amazing vendors.
To wrap up the month, my neighbors figs bloomed, and I was lucky enough to snag a few! That delicious treat is what really made me feel like an adolescent again.
